No one under the age of 21 is permitted to drive while impaired by alcohol.

Possible Consequences (when convicted):

No one under the age of 21 is permitted to knowingly use false identification (Fake ID) or lie about his/her age for the purposes of obtaining alcohol.

Possible Consequences (when convicted):

Minor Offenders (under 18)

• $50 fine, plus court fees
• No less than 20 hours of community service, plus court fees
• Lose driver's license

Underage Offenders (18-20)

• Up to $200 fine, plus court fees
• Up to 30 days in jail, plus court fees
• Lose driver's license

Parents and guardians of children under the age of 21 are not allowed to knowingly allow the child to buy or possess alcohol.

Possible Consequences (when convicted):

1. Spend up to 11 months and 29 days in jail
2. Fine up to $2,500

• Illegal for anyone under 21 to purchase and/or possess alcohol
• Class A Misdemeanor
• Illegal for anyone under 21 to drive while impaired
• Illegal for anyone under 21 to knowingly misrepresent his/her age, i.e. use a fake ID or make a false statement of age to obtain alcohol

Illegal for a parent or guardian to knowingly allow an underage person to buy or possess alcohol

• Contributing to the delinquency of a minor – up to 11 months and 29 days in jail, plus a $500 fine.
• Child endangerment
• Other related offenses against minors

Illegal for anyone/any license holder to sell alcohol to anyone under 21 or anyone visibly intoxicated (city offenses below)

• First Offense:  Create a remedial plan for preventing future sales to underage persons
• Second Offense (within 2 years of first offense):  Administrative hearing in front of beer board, $500 fine for selling to 18+ or $1,500 fine for selling to a minor under 18.
• Third Offense (within 2 years of first offense):  Suspension/revocation hearing, specific consequences decided upon by hearing officer, typically includes suspension of license and fine.
  

*Class A Misdemeanor Punishments:

• Probation
• Up to 100 hours of community service
• Suspension of driver’s license for up to 1 year
• Underage person may be placed into state custody
